Backdoor Collection Application Form
Effective July 1, 2021, one (1) ton per year of leaf, limb, and construction and demolition debris is allowed at no charge for a resident of Washington County or residential property owner that pays the annual solid waste user fee per residence. Commercial users and material delivered by a contractor will be charged at solid waste user fee scheduled rates. Only material generated in Washington County may be brought to the Washington County Landfill.
Services
C&D (Construction & Demolition)
Dumping or disposing of construction and demolition materials consists of solid waste resulting only from the construction, remodeling, repair, or demolition of buildings or other structures.
Yard Waste
Yard Waste consists of natural wood, limbs, leaves, pine straw, stumps, and yard debris.
Inert Debris
Inert debris consists of non-contaminated bricks, mortar, concrete, and non-organic building debris, also known as clean fill.
White Goods
White Goods consist of refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washing machines, and other miscellaneous scrap metals.
Tires
Five (5) tires per year per household may be disposed of; rims must be removed.
Electronics:
Televisions, radios, computers, monitors, etc.
Items NOT allowed in the landfill:
Brown Goods: Furniture such as sofas, recliners, mattresses
Household Garbage
Liquid Wastes: Septic, sludge, paint, solvents, farm chemicals, motor oil, anti-freeze, etc.

LP Tanks
Hazardous Waste: Medical wastes, radioactive materials, asbestos shingles, etc.
Recycling
The following items are mandated by the State of North Carolina to be recycled; therefore, not allowed in the landfill:
Plastics, including plastic bottles
Aluminum cans
Cardboard and paper

Wheels For Wishes is a car donation program benefiting Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina. We are proud to offer an easy way to recycle or donate unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, RVs, or even boats, by turning them into a wish for a local child. We pick-up or tow away cars free of charge, anywhere in Eastern North Carolina, whether they run or not. Vehicles are either recycled or auctioned off and 100% of the net proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina. Since we are a tax-exempt charity under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code, you also receive the maximum possible tax deduction for your charity vehicle donation.
